CLUB REDEVELOPMENT UPDATE

On Monday night the Club’s Building Committee briefed the board on the progress of the proposed re-build of the Club. The committee and the President are meeting the architects, Terroir for a site visit in early November.

On Monday, Zali Steggall MP also posted on social media that the $5M in funding pledged by the previous Liberal government will be at risk if construction contracts are not signed within 6 months.

To date NBC and the federal government has provided $5M each. The NSW government has provided no funding. The outcome of Manly LSC’s grant application to the NSW government for a further $1M-$5M will be known in mid November. If this funding is not received a complete re-build will not proceed and instead a $10M refurbishment will take place.

This week the President has met with CEO of NBC, Ray Brownlee and James Griffin MP to discuss further funding and an expedited timetable.

In the next month or so there will be an opportunity for Club members and the community to meet with the architects and the building committee and ask questions about the process.  Stay tuned for a final date.
