VALE – KIM TABART

Sadly, this week we lost a long serving member of Manly LSC and Manly Savers Rugby. Kim was a distinguished sportsman who rowed A crew surf boats, played in the premiership winning Savers side in 1960 and also played 1st grade ruby for the Manly Marlins. He was a great bloke who will be missed by his family and friend.
ANZAC DAY SERVICE

Location: Manly Life Saving Club
Date & Time: 9:00am 25 April 2023
This year’s guest speaker will be Lieutenant Colonel Jacqueline Costello. Jacquie has dedicated her career to best practice, innovation, and leadership in military psychology; she is passionate about ensuring that those who serve on the frontline, in barracks and deployed on operations, are supported to do so with purpose and dignity. Jacquie has commanded the Army’s 1st Psychology Unit, and currently leads the Human Performance Optimisation team at Headquarters Forces Command, Sydney.
Lantern Service at 5:20am

Prior to the formal service, the Club will be lighting lanterns at sunrise (approximately 5:20am) in memory of the members of Manly LSC, Manly Surf Club and for the first time, the Manly Seagulls members who lost their lives serving their countries in WWI and WW2. Please join us for this ‘new’ tradition that started during Covid, when we were not permitted to host a full Anzac service.
CLUB PRESENTATION NIGHT – FRIDAY 26 MAY 2023

The Club presentation night will be on Friday, 26 May 2023 at the Club from 6pm. The night will celebrate the achievements across all facets of our Club, but in particular our patrolling members and those who have recently qualified for their Bronze or other award.
The Bar will be open with two free drinks per member, food, and entertainment.
Come along to meet new members and celebrate our 113th season!
If you think that there is someone in the Club who deserves to be recognised for their volunteerism this season, please send a nomination to clubcaptain@manlylsc.com

SURF SPORTS – YOUTH AUSSIES U13-U15

Seven of our Young competitors in U13s-U15s represented Manly at the Aussies Youth Competition in Perth at the end of March.
We had 5 boys – four from U13s – Henry Whitehead, Jacob Chalmers , Tom McMurtry, Tom Bell and one U14 boy Luka Gordon. Two U15 girls also joined them – Elisha cuthbert and Eryn Ronge-Smith.
In tough flat conditions nearly everyone on the team made an individual final and all our boys teams made every final finishing in the top ten for Board Rescue and Surf Teams even though they were racing against U14s when the majority of the team were U13s.
Our U15 girls also paddled so well together in the Board Rescue (their only team event) and just missed out on the final.
Henry Whitehead was a standout performer making every possible final, 7, that he contended, closely followed by Jake Chalmers who made 5.
An outstanding effort from all and particularly our U13s at their first youth titles – we look forward to next year and having more competitors from this year’s U12-U14 Nippers racing at Aussies to create more teams and fun.
