What’s happening at Manly Life Saving Club
RED AND YELLOW RETURNS TO MANLY BEACH THIS WEEKEND
This weekend sees the red and yellow back on our beautiful strip of beach when patrols start up again. If you are around come and say hello to the following patrols that are rostered on and remember if you have some spare time, there is always room for more on our patrols.
Saturday

A New Facebook group has been established to assist with patrol substitutions. It has been created to assist Patrol captains being able to reach out to members to ask for assistance from people willing to help out when in need. If you would like to join the group is called Manly LSC Super Subs.

VALE MAX RIDDINGTON
Sadly on 11th September Manly LSC lost one of our great champions and oldest Life Member Max Riddington. Max was a committed club member and served countless years on the committee of Manly Life Saving Club including President, Vice President, Club Captain, Trustee, Life Member on Committee, Judiciary Committee and Honours Committee. Max will be farewelled on Wednesday 28th September 2022 at St Matthew’s Anglican Church Manly at 10:30am, followed by a gathering at our club.
KENDRICK L0UIS NAMED CAPTAIN OF AUSTRALIAN LIFESAVING TEAM
Congratulations to Kendrick Louis who has been named as Captain of the Australian Life Saving Team to compete in Italy at the World Lifesaving Championships from 21st September to 2nd October. Former Manly Nipper and member, Naomi Scott, who has recently relocated to the Gold Coast has also been named in the team. Good Luck Kendrick and Naomi. We will be cheering for you!
OLLIE SIGNORINI WINS NSW STATE SHORT COURSE CHAMPIONSHIPS
This year’s Cole Classic winner and Club member, Ollie Signorini recently won the 800m freestyle at the NSW State Short Course Championships in a blistering time of 8.01.49. Congratulations Ollie. We can’t wait to see you in action for Manly this summer.
DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD
Virginia Bennett is the Club’s most recent member to be conferred the Distinguished Service Award. Virginia has contributed to so many areas of the Club over a sustained period and the Board congratulates her on her highly deserved Award.
LONG SERVICE AWARDS
This month the Board awarded Long Service patrolling status to the following members: Rhani-Lee Payne, Jim Stackpool, Michelle Kaye and Andrew Thomas. Congratulations and thank you for your continued service to your Club and to your Community.
MEETING WITH THE SPORTS MINISTER ABOUT THE CLUB RE-DEVELOPMENT
Last month Northern Beaches Council announced that Terroir had been appointed as the successful architects for the proposed re-development of our Club house. On 20 September 2022, our President, Victoria Sweetman O’Halloran along with Member for Manly, James Griffin MP and Ray Brownlee, CEO of Northern Beaches Council met with Sports Minister Alister Henskens SC MP seeking an additional $5M funding for the Club from the NSW State Government.
BRONZE COURSE & PROFICIENCY DATES
We are running a new Bronze course starting early October and there are still a few spots left. If you know of anyone keen to do their Bronze and join our club all information can be found on the registration page https://manlylsc.com/bronze-course-registration-october-2022/
