Annual Skills Maintenance (Proficiency)

All active members, competitive, and patrolling long-service members, and Nipper water safety personnel at Manly LSC must complete annual Skills Maintenance (formerly known as “Proficiency”) at the start of each season.

• This session refreshes vital lifesaving abilities—including resuscitation, first aid, signalling, and run-swim-run fitness checks.

• Surf Life Saving Australia mandates proficiency completion by 31 December each season—Manly LSC currently holds several Face-to-Face proficiency sessions (e.g., early Sep, late Sep, Oct, Nov, Dec) alongside required online components

For returning members whose proficiency has lapsed within the past 3–5 years, an In-Depth Proficiency pathway is available to regain status; otherwise, a full Bronze course may be required

SRC & BRONZE PROFICIENCIES

Take Note

• Proficiencies are managed online – you must complete your Online Proficiency before attending your Face2Face Proficiency – Trainers have NO ACCESS to update your Face2Face proficiency until that is complete
• Each date consists of 2 sessions  – you only need to attend one​
• There will be 50 candidates max at each session who will be split into 2 groups of 25. One group to complete wet, the other dry and then swap​
• Please show up 15 mins before your start time to help us keep things on track
• Come dressed and ready for the WET session  – high vis vest, wetsuit if you get cold &  something warm to wear after. The Wet and Dry sessions will run back to back  – there will be no time to change mid-session.
• If your plans change, please log back in and remove yourself from the proficiency date (to free it up for another member) and re-enrol in a new date
• Follow the Step by Step instructions below to complete your proficiency.

REMEMBER TO  SIGN UP FOR ANY ADDITIONAL PROFICIENCIES YOU REQUIRE

Select one session from the Training Calendar, under e-learning in your SLS Members portal area.
You must have completed any online elements to each proficiency before attending one of the Face to Face sessions below.

IRB PROFICIENCIES

You MUST also complete a Bronze medallion proficiency.

ART PROFICIENCIES

If you also hold a Bronze Medallion you will need to complete that proficiency in addition to the ART proficiency.
