WHAT’S HAPPENING AT MANLY LSC – FRIDAY 5TH MAY 2023

The Club presentation night will be on Friday, 26 May 2023 at the Club from 6pm. The night will celebrate the achievements across all facets of our Club, but in particular our patrolling members and those who have recently qualified for their Bronze or other award.

The Bar will be open with two free drinks per member, food and entertainment.

Come along to meet new members and celebrate our 113th season!

The aim of this course is to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to effectively drive and manage an Inflatable Rescue Boat (IRB) in surf rescue operations.

Candidates must meet ALL of the following conditions:

-> be at least 16 years of age to commence training

-> be at least 17 years of age on the date of final assessment

-> hold and be currently proficient in:

             Bronze Medallion and Certificate II in Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue)

             IRB Crewperson Certificate (Held for 1 season and/or completed more than 10 hours crew)

-> hold a current NSW Boat License OR complete a pre-course workbook and be assessed prior to the course

Thursday 29th June 2023 -> 6pm-8pm – Compulsory Introduction

Sundays from 2nd July 2023 through to the end of August -> 7am-11am (at least 80% attendance is required)

Thursday 20th July 2023 -> 6pm-8pm – Engine Maintenance Part 1

Thursday 17th August 2023 ->6pm-8pm – Engine Maintenance Part 2

Proposed Assessment will be end of August/beginning Sept (Conditions/Skills dependant)

To be eligible you must answer YES to all the pre-requisites set below.

• Will be a financial member for the 2023/2024 season – must rejoin for insurance purposes

• Be 17 years or older by the end of August 2023

• Held IRB Crew certificate for 1 season or more and completed 10 hours as crew

• Attend the Compulsory Introduction

• Attend the Engine Maintenance Evenings

• Attend at least 80% of the Sunday sessions to cover all surf conditions

NSW Surf Life Saving this week announced that the NSW state championships will be returning to the Northern Beaches for another year! The championships will again be held across Queenscliff, North Steyne and Freshwater beaches. The 2024 championships will take place from 2-17 March.

Remember to grab your free or paid ticket ($20 for burger and beer) – every Friday in June. You must have a ticket to enter and spaces are limited.
