With another weekend looking to shape up as a nice one, the beach and it surrounds are sure to busy. To all members giving up their time to Patrol our Beach this weekend – THANK YOU!! If you are around and can spare some time, I am sure the below patrols would be grateful for some extra eyes and hands over the weekend.

SRC/BRONZE PROFICIENCY 
If you have not yet completed your proficiency for this season, below are list of dates that are remaining for you to complete. Please remember you need to register online through your Surf Life Saving members portal and complete the online components prior to attending one of these sessions.
We can not  run random ones onto December like previous years so please prioritise attending these dates.

IRB PROFICIENCY – LAST ONE
 
This Sunday is your last chance to complete your IRB proficiency for the season.

ART PROFICIENCY
Set for the folowing dates and sessions, please email chiefinstructor@manlylsc.com with your preferred date and time. Note each session does have a maximum of 5 candidates so please get in quick, you will be advised if the session is full and offered an alternative time.

COURSES
PROVIDE FIRST AID COURSE
Dates: Monday 5th and Thursday 8th December
Times: 6:00pm-9:00pm
Attendance is Mandatory at both sessions and also a pre-course work book must be completed 1 week prior (Monday 28th November)
IRB CREW COURSE
DATES:
  • Thursday 17th November 6-9pm
  • Saturday 19th November 6-8:30am
  • Sunday 27th November 6-8:30am
  • Sunday 4th December 7-11:30am
  • Sunday 11 th December assessment 8-10am (possibly can do session 6-8am)
You must be able to attend all sessions and spaces are limited and priority will be given to patrols with limited IRB crews.
Northern Beaches Branch SLS School are running a condensed SRC/Bronze course in January. This does cost about $350 and you are required to be a member of a Surf Life Saving Club. The link below to their jot form for registration outlines all information and requirements very clearly.

SURF SPORTS
This weekend the Nutri Grain Iron Series Trials are being held at Tugun SLSC. There are limited spots available to compete in the series. Manly is being represented by Georgia Singleton, Ella Garrett, and Wes Gould. We have club coaches Lachlan Bruce and Ky Hurst attending to look after the team and they will be supported by Glenn Stone who is towing the trailer up. These 3 have been training for 6 months for these trials.
Good Luck Team, we will be following your progress.
Also, this weekend is the 2nd round of the Bennett Fast Fives Dee Why. Good Luck to Team Manly competing at this one.
Surf Life Sydney Northern Beaches this week announced the Interbranch team to compete at Shelley Beach on the Central Coast at the NSW Interbranch Championships on the weekend of 3rd and 4th December. Congratulations to the following members that have gained selection in the team; Hannah Huisman, Henry Whitehead, Jess Oakhill, Luka Gordan, Elisha Cuthbert, Nicholas Stacker, Phoebe Lechner, Rachel Kember (Crerar) and Cooper Robinson.
NEW MARCH PAST TEAM
Have you seen a group of members marching up and down the beach on a Monday night? This is a newly formed March Past team that is training hard for the Manly Carnival and State Championships. Kaija Wall and Elaine Kindred got together to recreate the historic team with a guest coach.
The team includes former President Chris Bell, current president Victoria O’Halloran, Club Captain Rebecca Crawford, Treasurer Craig Haskins, plus Jane McLeod, Michelle Gamble, Mari Notaras, Sally Alderson, Kathryn Watts, Leanne O’Neill and many more.

MANLY LSC YOUTH GAMES NIGHT
Ou games night has been postponed for November 18 however U15-18’s we will be going for a fun paddle/swim at 5pm and then having pizza instead in the club house. Look forward to seeing you all there!
YOUTH OPPORTUNITY MAKERS WORKSHOP
Surf Life Saving New South Wales (SLSNSW) is excited to invite nominations for the 2022/23 Youth Opportunity Makers Workshop.
The workshop is geared towards creating greater awareness of opportunities and individual abilities in 15-17 year old members. Branches are encouraged to use this workshop as a way of recognising members who have the potential to further develop skills by working with like-minded young members.
The workshop will be held from Tuesday 11th April to Thursday 13th April 2023, at the Collaroy Centre on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. SLSNSW will cover costs of flights, accommodation, meals and activities for those members attending the workshop.
Aims of the workshop include:
  • Provide opportunities for ideas to be exchanged in a fun learning environment
  • To create awareness of current issues, pathways and opportunities.
  • To promote teamwork, communication skills and goal setting
  • To develop confidence and self-esteem in a supportive environment whilst positively recognising members.
Participants will take part in focused learning, presentations as well as fun activities and challenges.
