Naomi Scott- NSW Youth Athlete of the Year
While Naomi has represented Australia and made a name for herself in surf sports in both youth and open competition, she’s never won the Sydney Northern Beaches Youth Athlete of the Year. However, winning it for the first time this year meant she would finally be a finalist at the State awards. And she came away a very proud winner as NSW Youth Athlete of the Year. ”I am very excited,” Naomi said.
Naomi officially moves up to opens this coming season. ”I have actually been racing in opens since my first year in under 17s,” she said. ”But now I won’t be doing as many races.”
Naomi said she did not have too many expectations now she’s in open company. ”I won’t be putting pressure on myself,” she said. Now in her second year at university, Naomi said she was buried in the (study) books at the moment but found time to train. She’ll kick off her season, competing at Coolangatta on October 13.
Congratulation Naomi – We are so proud of you!
